What a fantastic Ballinamore Family Festival 2023

It has to be one of the best years in the festival past calendars.  Every event went off spectacularly, everyone was thrilled, large crowds attended and enjoyed all aspects of this year’s festival.  I would say this has to be one of the best and largest attendants I have ever seen. The canal basin could not take another campervan. Not to mention the Agricultural Day, after all their fears, the committee went ahead bravely and held this massively popular event.  Congratulations to the very hardworking committees and the many helpers who pulled everything together to achieve a tremendous successful Festival.  A special thanks to the generous sponsors. The funfair was a great bonus!

FESTIVAL ROADRACES A GREAT SUCCESS

The Ballinamore Athletic Club Festival Roadraces were moved this year to the Opening Sunday and proved to be a great success with satisfactory numbers and good competition in all events.  The day was fine and generous sponsorship from local firm Solar Compare along with live coverage from the venue by Shannonside Radio added to the prestige of the event.  The Mens' 10K was won by local Olympic athlete Colin Griffin in 33.07 from Brian Crowe of North Leitrim and Patrick Prusak of Longford.  The first women home was Ciara Brady of Cavan in 40.07 followed by Edel Nolan of Longford and Gemma Melanaphy of Enniskillen.  The 5K event provided another Cavan win with Orla Miney of Annalee A C finishing in  21.27 ahead of local runner Michelle McCartin and Maire Prior of DBB AC.  The Open 5K was won by Lukas Lyons of Noorth Leitrim in 1643 with Ross Gannon of Longford second and Jack Spain of Crusaders  third. The Leitrim 10K titles were won by Colin Griffin and Eilish Quinn of Ballinamore.  There were five childrens races run in conjunction with the winners being U-10 Girls- Laoise Prior (Tipperary), U-10 Boys- Mark Prior (Ballinamore), U-12 Girls Marie Prior (Ballinamore), U-12 Boys James Dillon (Ballinamore) and U-14 Scott Williamsd of North Leitrim. Ballinamore Athletic Club would thank all of provided support for and on the day, all who helped out, our Sponsor Solar Compare , The Gardai, Sean O Heslins GAA Club, The Festival Committee our Stewards and  Medical back up on the day, Scollan Butcher and Supervalue who donated prizes, Core Timing , Shannonside Radio, local press for their vital publicity and, last but not least, the runners of all ages who made the day enjoyable and, hopefully, enjoyed their day.
