National Heritage Week events at Ballinamore Library

To celebrate National Heritage Week 2023, staff at Ballinamore Library are hosting a most interesting talk 'Old Irish Lughnasa Customs' with Dr Marion McGarry on Tuesday August 15th at 7.30pm. Dr McGarry is the author of ‘The Irish Cottage: History, Culture and Design’ and ‘Irish Customs and Rituals: How our Ancestors Celebrated Life and the Seasons’. She currently lectures on the Heritage Studies programme at Atlantic Technological University Galway. Also taking place at Ballinamore Library is a showing of a recorded presentation 'Garda Síochána Mutiny 1922' by Dr Liam McNiffe. This can be seen on Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th and Friday 18th August, daily at 3pm. A Ballinamore native, Dr McNiffe, now lives in Co. Meath and is an author, historian and retired Principal of St. Patrick's College, Cavan. For anyone who missed his live presentation last year, this is an ideal opportunity to view this excellent video. Both events are free to attend for National Heritage Week and all are welcome.

Such a brilliant week of fun and football with a fantastic group of coaches and children! Thank you as always to our generous local sponsor Fresh Today for sponsoring goodie bags for all! Please shop local. Special thanks to Jenny McTague and Peter Reynolds for organising and planning the entire week a massive amount of work is done in the background and its thanks to those and all of their helpers that we are able to host 150 children at our camps, Thanks also to all the volunteers who give their time so selflessly every year without whom our Cul Camp could not run and special thanks to all the children for coming and enjoying the week !
Junior ladies reach the final !
A great win Friday evening for junior ladies as they won their Semi-final against Fenagh by a score of 4-7 Fenagh 2-8 . Next up will be the final against Drumkeerin. Was great to see a good crowd at the game and also to see so many of our young players coming out to support.

Dear Lord, You demand justice for Your children who have been wronged. Give strength to people who investigate

and prosecute traffickers. Encourage them when they are weary. Give courage to survivors when they are asked to

testify against their former captors. Let Your justice prevail.
