BALLINAMORE FESTIVAL ROADRACES

Ballinamore Athletic Club are holding their annual Festival Roadraces under AAI Rules this year on the Opening Sunday of the Annual Family Festival rather than on the Friday evening as has been the practice for many years.  The Open 10K which will also incorporate a Leitrim Championship for men and women, the Open 5K which will also include a Funrun and a 1500m for Under 14 and Under 12 children who are not permitted to run the 5K under AAI Rules, will take place on Sunday August 13th at 1.00.p.m. 

    Race Headquarters will be at the Sean O Heslin GAA Park and adjacent the start and numbers will be available there between 11.30 and 12.30. Chip timing is provided. Entries for the 10K and 5K are to be made through Eventmaster- Event Calendar before 1.00.p.m. on Saturday August 12th. Under age entries on the morning of the race before 12.30.p.m. There are numerous cash and other prizes with refreshments provided after the races. The Official Opening of the Festival will take place at 3.00.p.m.

 

QQI Level 5 course in Health Nutrition and Food Science

WRENBOYS RETURN TO THE PLATFORM MONDAY 14th AUGUST 8:45 PM (Festival week) commemorating the Ballinamore group who won the all-Ireland Title in Listowel in 1970 & ’71. Members from local parishes along with original members are participating with the best traditional music, song, dance, storytelling, and comedy. A night not to be missed.

 

Ballinamore 2023 Family Festival

The highlight of the summer is fast approaching and the committee at Ballinamore Family Festival have been working hard to ensure that the festival will be one to remember.

Boasting some of the biggest names in music, sport competitions, art and fun activities and events for all ages the festival takes place from August 13th to 20th with the Agricultural Show taking place on Tuesday August 15th.

ANNUAL PORTIUNCULA MISSION 2023 DRUMSHANBO. Mon 31st July - Wed 2nd August Mass each day: 12 noon Convent 7 8 p.m. Parish Church. Confession:  Tuesday 6.30 p.m. – 7.30 p.m. And after each Mass. 4 DAY ESCORTED PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK SHRINE: organised by Knock Pilgrimages: €549.00 per person sharing. Price includes return bus transfer, 3 nights in Knock House Hotel with full board. DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK Wed. 9th August 2023, the Feast of St Felim, the Patron Saint of the Kilmore Diocese. Ceremonies begin at 2pm with the outdoor Stations of the Cross and Rosary Procession. The Celebration of Mass and the Anointing of the Sick will take place at 3pm. Bishop Martin Hayes will be the Main Celebrant. A special invitation is extended to all families from across the diocese. A bus will leave from the square in Ballinamore at 9am that morning. The bus fare is €15 return. Please book your seat with Mary on 087 7541234.

 

AUGHNASHEELIN St MARY'S NS 50 YEAR REUNION CELEBRATIONS. Commence with Mass in the school yard Friday evening 4th August at 7 pm (weather permitting).  Followed by unveiling of a commemorative plaque, burying a time capsule and book launch. The school will be open with memorabilia displays. Refreshments Served. 

Saturday 5th Entertainment in the hall with special guest John Lynch as MC with recollections and local music.  Reeling in the year’s footage of events from St Mary's 50 year history. Tea and sandwiches. Sunday 6th Social function at the Commercial Hotel with live music and disco. Finger food available. Monday 7th GAA Club Fun Day at the pitch. Fun activities for all.  Barbecue. We hope that past pupils and friends will join us over the weekend.  The reunion committee endeavoured to invite all past pupils; in the event that you did not receive an invite please know that these events are open to all past pupils and their families. We hope to meet you over the weekend.

NORTH WEST STEM FEST: 31st July to Aug 4th, the creative experience in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths for teens takes place in the Island Theatre, Ballinamore. It's a great opportunity for teens to enjoy company with friends in a safe, fun and educational environment. Tonnes of activities planned including The Duckie Bungee and Juggling quadratic equations. €12,500 RAISED AT BALLINAMORE VINTAGE AND FAMILY DAY: South Leitrim West Cavan Vintage Tractor Club held a presentation night on Friday 21st July in Glenview Ballinamore where the proceeds from the Ballinamore Vintage and Family Day, which took place on Sunday 4th June, were donated to the Gavin Glynn Foundation, Patient Comfort Fund Ballinamore Nursing Unit, Ballinamore Area Community Council & Drumreilly Community Afterschool. A total of €12,500 was raised at the vintage day and donated to these worthy causes. We'd like to extend a sincere thank you to all who supported this year’s show and look forward to seeing you all again on Sunday 2nd June 2024.
