Connacht Gold Senior Championship

It was great to see the sun come out on Saturday for the first round of this year’s
championship match where we took on a very strong Mohill team in this eagerly
awaited game.
The crowds were certainly smaller due to the Covid restrictions that were in place
with only 200 people admitted to the venue.

We were lucky to have 293 people at home watching on our social media platforms
with viewers from as far afield as Boston, Sydney and London, there has been 1100
views of the match in total now. Its certainly not as good as being in the ground but
nevertheless it was an outlet for our fans to keep up to date with the match and what a
match it was two teams both putting in an excellent performance.

Mohill started the game very well and duly took the lead with some impressive scores
leading by 7 points to 2, our Lads certainly dug in and started to claw back at 5-point
deficit just before the water break scoring 4 unanswered points to get them back into
contention. It was a very tight match with both teams going in level at half time on 8
points apiece.

Mohill started well after the break but again the lads lifted themselves
and scored some cracking points with Dean, Wayne and Tom adding big scores to
leave us winning the game by a point and a final score of 0:16 to 0:15
It was a very good performance from the lads who put in a lot of hard work and they
certainly did not look like the forced breaks had done any damage.
Next up is a home game against Aughawillian in a very exciting and eagerly
anticipated encounter

Sympathy

It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of Sean McCartin, Sean was a
fantastic supporter of the club and would help out come rain or shine giving up his
time freely to help the club no matter what the ask.
We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to Tracey, John, Anthony and Emer,
their mother Bernie, brothers Joe, Gerry, Hugh and Martin, son-in-law, daughter-in-
law, grandchildren, aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and
friends at this difficult time.

MacDiarmada Gaels

Well done to our u15 teams who were in action in the first round of their
championship games on Friday last. We fielded two u15 teams and both were in
action against St Marys. Team one had a very impressive win scoring 5.07 versus
2.11. Team 2 were also in action and were unlucky not to get a win as well just
missing out by 3 points in a very tight game with the final score of 3.05 to 3.10 in
favour of St Marys.
It was a disappointing evening on Monday for our u17 lads who lost against Mohill
by a score of 0:11 to 2:07. The lads were well in control putting in a good
performance only to lose the match with the last kick of the game with Mohill
claiming a goal at the death
Well done to our u13 lads who has a fantastic victory away to St Bridgets on Monday
evening winning the game by a score of 4:06 to 1:10, next up is a match against St
Mary’s

their support and help. Same again on Saturday with our Nursey and u9 children on
the back pitch at 10am, our u11 children will be training at 1830 on Monday
