Remembering Leitrim War Dead looks to explore ways to remember and commemorate the men and women of Leitrim who were affected by the First World War.  The project will include Community Consultations, exploring the needs and aspirations of individuals and community groups across Leitrim, to develop a consensus of ideas around a World War 1 remembrance project.  Facilitated consultations will take the form of public workshops, focus group meetings and one to one meetings. Findings from consultations, with recommendations for a programme of community based work around a World War 1 remembrance project in Leitrim, will be issued in August.   It is envisaged that the programme will include a series of activities and projects remembering the men and women who were affected by the First World War and recommendations for small capital project(s).

If you would like to take part in a public consultation, please attend a workshop on one of the dates outlined above. For further information,

New 500 Bedroom Hotel for Ballinamore Lord Mayor Candidate Gerry Farry has told us that he has been in touch with Donald Trump Jnr through his Russian agents to arrange the building of a new 500 bedroom hotel in Ballinamore. Gerry stated that the new hotel will be a huge benefit to Ballinamore in the light of all the other developments he has planned for the surrounding area. The new 20 story structure will incorporated into existing buildings at the junction of High Street and St Bridget Street. The Hotel will have all the usual amenities and include a greyhound track around the perimeter. BIG G said that leading trainers like John Ryan and Timmy Winters will make immense savings on Friday evening by having their moneymaking activities near home. ‘The brilliance of the thing is that marriage-intending couples can have all activities in-house, marriage on the ground floor, craic in the middle and fireworks on the roof. The 500 bedrooms will be furnished to cater for every taste. Gerry added that Mr Trump wants to future-proof the development by installing a rocket launch pad on the roof. ‘Space travel will be commonplace in the not-too-distance future’, he added. ‘We are expecting many guests requesting us to ‘Fly Me to the Moon’. We are now just a few of weeks away from having our friends from Belfast pass through our town as they walk to Knock over five days on their Peace Pilgrimage.
