Sensory Room Open Morning 

As part of Autism Awareness Month, staff in Mohill Library will host an Open Morning for its Sensory Room for parents/guardians/carers on Wednesday, 25 April 2018, from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The morning will begin with introductions and refreshments at 10.30am. Our guest speaker, Carla Flynn (Senior Occupational Therapist) will deliver a presentation on sensory issues and how these affect a child, show the benefits of the sensory room and finally from 12.00pm to 12.30pm the Sensory Room will be open for viewing.

Ballinamore Library News

Bookings are now being taken for the Basic Computer Course starting in Ballinamore Library running on Friday 13th April, 3pm to5pm. The course is free and will run weekly for five weeks. Booking is essential on 071 9645566. 

Knitting/ Crochet Group meets every Tuesday morning at 11. New members always welcome.

Spanish Classes for beginners continue on Thursdays 6.30 to 7.30pm. All welcome.

Kiddies Movie time each Saturday at 2.30pm. Details of weekly movie available from the library. 

Tuesday 17th April at 6.45pm Leitrim Astronomy Club Lecture “100 Years of the Irish Aurora Borealis: From Folklore to the Digital Age” speaker Ronan Newman.   

Admission to all events is free.

Good news for the club is that two club members have completed course for new referees. Darren Reynolds and Brian Beirne will be taking up the whistle at matches shortly. It is some time since anyone from the club has taken up refereeing.

Leitrim GAA Coaching  

Leitrim Coaching and game are seeking to recruit additional coaches to join our existing academy coaching teams at u14,15,16 and 17 grades. We feel this is a great opportunity for ambitious coaches to become involved and gain experience working with intercountry squads. Coaches who feel they would like to get involved are asked to contact County Coaching Officer Hughie Clinton (083-8575304) or County Games Manager Thomas Keenan (087-6591049) and will need to have completed the award 1 youth/adult coaching course, the safeguarding 1 (code of ethics) course and be Garda vetted through the GAA.

North West Simon Community Mini Marathon Team

The 2018 Vhi Women's Mini Marathon will be on Sunday June 3rd. Will you join the North West Simon Community Team in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal if you are interested in fundraising for the local homeless charity please contact Mary on 087 7708865 or email mary@northwestsimon.ie.

 

Funding has been secured from M.S.L.Education Training Board

to run classes in the Vocational school for Ballinamore and our surrounding parishes. These will be free and will include Cookery - level 3, Metalwork, Gardening and Arts and Crafts. There may be a small charge for materials. If interested please contact Patrick or Margaret in The Tourism Office to put your name down, e mail - ballinamoretourism@gmail.com, tel 071 96 44513 or call in person to our new Tourism Center. We also hope to run a Calligraphy Class but this will incur a cost. Thank you to Paul Hamilton and his team at M.S.L.E.T.B. for help and funding. Also big thank you to Ballinamore Childcare, Women’s Art and Craft Community Group and Men’s Shed group for helping to keep our Vocational School open.

Church of Ireland Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church, Drumreilly.

The Kilmore Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from 27th May to 1st June – 5 nights’ full board and accommodation.

VHI Women’s Mini Marathon :

World Meeting of Families

As part of preparations for the forthcoming World Meeting of Families later this year, Fr. Eamonn Bredin will facilitate a six week discussion group, entitled ‘Family Matters’ on themes from Pope Francis Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love), in the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Cavan, beginning on Thursday 26 April 2018 from 7:30p.m. to 9:30p.m. Among the themes being discussed will be The Experiences & Challenges of Families, Love in Marriage, Towards a Better Education of Children and The Spirituality of Marriage & the Family. Pre-registration is necessary. You may register a place by contacting the Pastoral Centre on 049 4375004 or by email to pastoralcentre@kilmorediocese.ie . The cost of the course is €30, payable on the first night. All welcome.

Cavan Institute is hosting an Information Day on Saturday 21 April from 12 noon to 4 pm. This is an ideal opportunity for prospective students to visit the college and discuss the opportunities available upon completion of a PLC course - so if you are interested in accessing progression routes to third level education in Institutes of Technology and Universities, up-skilling, obtaining employment or taking a gap year, why not come along and see what Cavan Institute has to offer?

 

DRUMEELA GARDEN CLUB:

Next meeting is on  Wednesday April 11th at 8.30pm in Teach Duchais Drumeela. The speaker will be Timothy Elliott from Manor Garden Centre Lisnaskea. Timothy is an excellent speaker who is very well informed on all gardening topics. So why not come along and get some information and inspiration for the approaching gardening season. Everyone welcome. Usual refreshments and raffle on the night.
