St Patrick’s Day Parade

So the countdown starts ... the theme of this year's parade is " the future holds ..." you need to start working on your costumes, floats and window displays now... the time is short... The parade begins at 1 o'clock all floats and entries meeting on the Tesco road at 12:20... Anyone available to steward please let us know. There is entertainment, goodies for all the kids, and prizes for best dressed window, best dressed adult and child, best float, best on foot and many more.... It's on a Saturday so no excuses... Ballinamore Area Public/Workshop Meeting

Next Ballinamore Area Public/Workshop Meeting will be on Monday 12th March in Commercial Hotel at 8pm. Over 120 people attended the first meeting and a large amount of useful information was collated. This information is being fed back by email or if you didn't leave an email address, a copy can be collected in the Tourism Office beside the Church.


Fenagh Drama Troupe:

After 55 years absence from the stage Fenagh Drama Troupe has been reformed and will perform the hilariously funny 3 Act Comedy play, “The Maiden Aunt “ by Jimmy Keary on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd March in Fenagh Community Centre with curtains at 8:30pm. Local characters taking to the Stage, a night not to be missed with guaranteed laughter for all in attendance.  Andy Redican is directing this troupe who are anxious to ensure entertainment is provided so mark your calendars!!!

Recent Deaths: We pray for the soul of Philomena Dolan of Corloughlin, Drumshanbo, (Sister of Detta McNiffe Aughnasheelin) whose funeral took place on Friday. Our thought are with her family.  

Visitation of the Sick and Housebound: will take place this week: Aughawillan, Corraleehan and Aughnasheelin on Thursday morning and Ballinamore Country Area on Thursday afternoon/evening. Ballinamore Town area will take place Friday morning.  

Seeking New Counters for Ballinamore Church: Anyone interested in volunteering as a counter please contact the office or Fr Sean.  

Parish Pastoral Council are hosting talks during Lent

Wed Feb 28th : Family and Spirituality – Dominic Peron is a broadcaster with a Christian radio station and will speak about faith and family. As a father himself of young children Dominic will share his insights on why faith is important and ways of nurturing this faith in our families. 

Wed March 14th : Internet safety and Drug and Alcohol Awareness - Hugh Brady will give insights on how to keep our children safe on the internet, what parents have to look out for and what practical steps to take to ensure this safety. Grainne Duignan works with the Foroige on the Youth Alcohol and drug education/prevention project and will speak about drug and Alcohol use in our young people and the programmes that is being currently run with our youth here in Ballinamore. 

All Talks will take place in Ballinamore Community Centre at 8pm.  Everyone most welcome. 

Weekly Charismatic prayer meeting takes place each Tuesday night at 8:30pm in small upper room in Ballinamore Community Centre all welcome.

Ballinamore Bridge Club

Unfortunately due to such a high score the computer broke down and we were unable to retrieve the rest of the results. No Bridge this coming Thursday due to the monthly Whist Drive. 


Ballinamore Farmers Market

will be open from 11 to 3, every Friday at the usual place outside the Leitrim Genealogy Centre in the Main Street. Interested stallholders are very welcome to apply. Mobile: 085 175 4957.


Whist Drive:

The monthly Whist Drive will take place in the Ballinamore Community Centre on Thursday next,  1st March  at 8:30pm, all card players are welcome to come along and enjoy a good social night out, tea and refreshments served at interval and some great prizes to be won. Cavan Stroke Support Group

run by the Irish Heart Foundation takes place every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at Tullacmongan family resource centre. The aim of the group is to offer support, advice and exercise sessions as well as a social outlet to stroke survivors and their careers. Midland Motor Club

Are holding a Navigational Trial in the Aughnasheelin area tonight Saturday 24th February, between the hours of 10pm-12.00am. Just note that it will have extra traffic on roads in the area during them hours. The roads WILL NOT be closed!


Community Games - Music/Singing/Dance/Recitation:

Used Clothes Collection:

1st Leitrim Scouts are having a used clothes collection to raise funds for JamBoRi 2018. 

Any re wearable clothes, paired shoes, belts, handbags, curtains, towels, bedlinen, soft toys are accepted.  Bags can be dropped off at the Ballinamore Scout Den any Wed 6.15pm-8.30pm or Thurs 8.00pm-9.30pm. Or before 9.30am on Mon 26th February. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

A Community Alert/Text Alert Meeting

will be held in the Commercial Hotel, Ballinamore, at 8pm on Monday February 26th 2018. Among the speakers will be Supt. Kevin English, District Officer for Leitrim, Sgt. Jim Fox, Crime Prevention Officer for Sligo/Leitrim and a representative from Muintir an Tire, the Community Alert governing body. The aim of the meeting is to discuss security issues of concern to the community at large and a proposal on the installation of a CCTV system. Everybody is invited to attend and entry is free. Please pass on to your neighbors and friends.

Ballinamore Foróige Club:

Members of the local Foróige Club are sleeping-rough for the night on March 16th in Ballinamore town. Club members will be collecting throughout the afternoon. Please support our young people who feel very strongly about the Homeless Crisis in Ireland. Larger donations can be made through the Club Adult Leaders.

Heart Safe Ballinamore

We would like to thank very much all those who contributed to our church gate collection on Sun 11th Feb. The amount received was €270.45. Many thanks to our collectors who had to brave the snow - Sean McKeon, Colm O'Reilly, Michael O'Dell and Anne Prior. We are organising refresher training and the 2 yearly training in the next few weeks - all current volunteers who are due will get a text. Please try and avail of one of the options offered as it will be 3/4 months until next dates. If anyone is intersted in the training for the first time contact Marcella on 0876962928 or one of the above committee members.


Rinn-Shannon Angling Open

Membership for 2018 and access to the beautiful and well-stocked Lough Rowan is now available from the Mohill-based Rinn-Shannon and District Angling Club (RSDAC).

Full membership is available at €100 (€20 for junior members) and €20 for a day ticket. Trout fishing is open all year round and the famous Rowan pike fishery always has a productive autumn and winter season.

Seamus O Rourke coming in aid of Ballinamore Childcare

is coming to Ballinamore Community Centre in aid of Ballinamore Childcare on Friday the 2nd of March at 8pm with his latest production From Under The Bed. Seamus'es Production will be followed by a short drama "An Irish Wake" performed by the Rehab Care Service Users. Tickets are €15 and on sale now from all staff and board members and in Phillip Murphy's newsagents.
