Ballinamore presents 'hidden... OUT LOUD'; an exhibition of recent work by Niamh O’Connor, visual artist from Dublin currently living in Monaghan. 1st Leitrim Scouts AGM and Registration Night will take place on Wednesday 27th Sept. from 8-9pm in Ballinamore Scout Den (beside Sports Complex).  From ages 6-15 years, boys and girls. 

 

Harvest Festival Thanksgiving Service – cancelled

 

The above service due to take place on Sunday 1st October at 4pm has been cancelled due to ongoing repairs on the church.  We apologise for any inconvenience caused.  Next service takes place on 7th October at 12.15pm.

 

Ballinamore Bridge Club

Job Seeking Skills Course 

 

County Leitrim Job Club will be running a Job seeking skills course in The Enterprise Centre, Ballinamore starting on Monday 2nd October 2017 and running for four weeks. This course covers all aspects of job seeking including certified manual handling and Customer Service Skills.  An attendance allowance is available to participants on this programme. Women’s Group

 

A meeting of Ballinamore women’s group takes place on Wednesday 4th October at 8pm. A guest speaker will speak on mindfulness.  Members are asked to bring a cushion and a small towel to partake in this session.  Arrangements will be competed for trip to Galway.

All members are asked to attend.

Positive Aging Week. 

 

Events continue throughout the week, with a classic movie showing at 6pm on Thursday 28 at 6pm (Details of movie available from the library at 071 9645566) Admission free all welcome with refreshments served. 

 

Basic Computer Course. 

 

In early October there is a Basic Computer Course starting in Ballinamore library. This course is free and will run on Thursday evenings between 5.30 and 7.30 over a 5 week period.  Places are limited  and booking is essential.  For booking and further details contact the library at 071 9645566. 

Draughts club continues in the library each Tuesday 6.30pm to 7.30om.  Bring along draught board if you have one and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Irish Class for Complete Beginners  

Irish class for people with little or no Irish will begin in Ballinamore Library on Thursday 12 October at 7.00pm. Admission is free. 

 

Athetic Club Training Resumes


Ballinamore Athletic Club training will resume for the winter season on Monday evening next at 7.00.p.m. It will then continue as in previous years on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.00 p.m. in the Sports Hall and St Felim's Grounds. The reason it is taking place on the Monday evening next week is that the Leitrim Primary Schools Cross Country Championships take place on Wednesday next. New members are also welcome on Monday evening. After the Halloween break and time change training reverts to 6.00.p.m.on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Progressive 25 Card Game

 

Progressive 25 Autumn/Winter League commences this Thursday night September 28th in Fenagh Community Centre, starting at 8.30. League prizes, Nightly prizes and Jackpots. Entry €8 with refreshments served. All new players welcome. Proceeds in aid of Fenagh Handball Club.

We pray for the soul of Paddy O'Rourke, formerly of Coraleehan Beg, (Brother of Noel O’Rourke) whose funeral mass took place on Saturday in Corraleehan . Our sympathy to his families 

 

Day For Life 

 

is about raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. The Church teaches that life is to be nurtured from conception to natural death. This year’s Day for Life is celebrated on  Sun Oct 1st       

First Holy Communion 2018:  

 

A very important information meeting for Parents/guardians of children due to receive their First Holy Communion in 2018   will take place in Scoil Chlann Naofa (formerly boys school). Church gate collection:

 

A Community Care church gate collection will be taken up at all masses in Ballinamore / Drumreilly Lr parishes next week end, September 30th / October 1st.  The proceeds of this collection will go towards the Senior Citizens Christmas Party.    

 

Apostolic Society 

 

Annual display takes place in Pastoral Centre Cavan on Sunday October 22nd at 3pm - AGM of Society takes place Sunday November 26th with Mass at 2 30 for deceased members and benefactors. Honorary Subscription now due can be given to Maura Mulvey, thank you all for your subscriptions last year - this money goes to help our missionaries with their work and we have Missionaries from our own area who are doing great work on the Foreign Missions and really appreciate all the help they receive.

Cavan Colour Fun Run

 

Cavan Colour Fun Run is a family fun event in which participants of all ages from 1 to 100 years are covered from head to toe in different colours as they make their way through Deerpark Forest, Virginia. It will be held on Sunday 1st October at 2pm starting at Virginia Showgrounds. All funds raised go to SOSAD and Orla’s Guiding Light. Ballinamore Slow Session

 

Ballinamore Comhaltas group are running a slow session on the second Friday of each month in Shortt's Bar. 7.00-9.00. The first of which will be on Friday 13th October. The session is open to anyone learning Irish music. Any age, any instrument. The aim is to help everyone get out there and develop the confidence to play in public whilst improving their level of skill.  It will happen in a very informal and relaxed environment. If you played music as a youngster but not in recent times why not get back into it. Spread the word. All welcome.  

 

Who will You Remember when our Community Walks Together?

 

The North West Hospice Memorial Walk will take place on Sunday October 15th at 12 midday in Sligo town. Walk in remembrance of a deceased family member, friend or work colleague and celebrate their lives. Participants who register will receive personalised t-shirts with the name of their loved on the front. This scenic walk is a flat route less than 5km and is suitable for all ages and buggies!
