The Golden Era of Céilí Music 

To celebrate National Heritage Week, Ballinamore Library is hosting a very special event on Friday 25th at 2.30pm. The Golden Era of Céilí Music is a talk by Brian Lawlor, founder of the Ardellis Céilí Band.  This is a treat for all lovers of Irish music and dance and covers the period 1955-1970. Brian has collected interviews from all kinds of people who were part of the Golden Era of Céilí Music and Dance. Come to this talk and hear his personal history of the time and the stories he has recorded along the way. This is a free event and you are assured of a nostalgic entertaining afternoon. 

 

Draughts Club

Draughts Club, for all ages, continues on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in Ballinamore Library. Bring along your own board if you have one. All children must by accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

 

ATHLETIC CLUB ACKNOWLEDGES SUPPORT

The Officers of Ballinamore Athletic Club would like to thank all those who provided support on the occasion of the launch of the Club's much acclaimed History "Maroon Above the Green" on Monday evening last and the Annual Festival Open roadraces on Friday evening. Monday evening's launch provided the opportunity for former members over the fifty years of the Club's existence to come together and look back on times past with the aid of photographs while ten counties were represented in Friday evening's race. The Club are grateful to all who helped with race organization and stewarding, catering, publicity, the Community Council, Ballinamore Scouts, Festival Committee, medical backup and the runners themselves. A special thanks to Athletics Ireland President Georgine Drumm who launched the book on Monday evening and to the Gardaí whose assistance with traffic control during the race on Friday evening was invaluable.

Bring along your own board  Well Done to Dillon Beirne on winning the Golfing Union of Ireland  Connacht Junior u16 title, Dillon is an accomplished footballer as well as golfer and everyone at the club would like to congratulate him on this great achievement. f you have one.
