General  Notes

Carrigallen National School:  Raising of the Irish Flag takes place in Carrigallen NS next Tuesday 15th March at 11.30am to mark Proclamation Day. This will be followed by a play based on 1916 performed by Mr. Carty's class and will finish about 1pm.  All are welcome to attend this important event. The play will also be performed in the school at 7.30pm that evening for those that cannot attend during the day.  

National Proclamation Day

St. Mary's N.S., Drumlea will be having a proclamation / flag raising day on Tues. 15th March at 11.30 am to commemorate the 100 anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. The school staff and pupils would like to invite all parents, grandparents and members of the Community to this celebration. The National Flag will be raised, the 1916 Proclamation will be read and the children have written their own modern version of the proclamation which will also be read on the day. After the ceremony there will be entertainment and refreshments in the school.  

St. Patrick’s Day Collection

Your generosity to the St. Patrick’s Day Collection with help educate African Priests, two of whom work in our diocese, support Irish missionaries working in African countries, provide support to the Irish Emigrant chaplaincy abroad.  We would appeal for your continued generosity in this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Collection.

Mass for Ireland

St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford, Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise.  Saturday 19th March, feast day of St. Josephy.   Celebrant Bishop Colm O'Reilly.  Starts with Rosary at 2.30 p.m., Mass at 3 p.m., Holy Hour for Ireland at 4.p.m. Coach and car parking available next to cathedral. Come and unite in prayer for Ireland in this beautifully restored cathedral in the heart of Ireland. There will be a procession to The Holy Family altar to pray for our families and our nation. Prayer groups and prayer banners most welcome.

Carrigallen Assorted Fitness  

Come along to the Kilbracken, Carrigallen this Monday at 6.30pm for a fantastic fitness class including aerobics, circuits, toning and zumba.  For further information contact 0879390980.

Carrigallen Community Care AGM

Monday 21st March 2016 @ 9pm in The Health Centre, Carrigallen.  Everyone welcome.

Cavan Oncology Unit Fundraising Event:  

The Sweet Spirit Gospel Choir under the direction of Tish Dunleavy will present a night of Gospel, Country, Folk and classics in the Cornmill Theatre Carrigallen on Sunday evening April 10th 8.30pm.  Proceeds to the Cavan Oncology Unit.

Leitrim Youth Theatre Co. Carrigallen (LYTC) 

LYTC perform a new short play written and directed by Mary Blake in the Corn Mill Theatre on Saturday and Sunday 12th and 13th March at 8.30pm tickets at door, family show, and family rates available.  This new play with cast of 36 youth theatre members is set in 1916 in tenement Dublin during the backdrop of the rising, where children unaware of what was going on, take opportunities and create their own worlds of play and fun, risking their lives, and that of their parents.

Irish Pilgrimage Trust Church Gate Collection

Held in Drumeela on Sunday 28th February in aid of Irish Pilgrimage Trust.  Total collected €100.40.  Thanks to all involved.
