The final of the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup Competition was played last Friday night between the Poor Scholar and Quinn’s of Fenagh. The Scholar got to a flying start winning the first four games, it looked as if it was going to be over very quickly, but Fenagh fought back to win the next three to make it a very exciting finish, the Scholar won the next game to finish the match on a score line of (5) games to (3). Well done to the Scholar hard luck to Fenagh. Playing for the winning team were Ian Flynn, Michael Hearty, Charlie McDonnell, Denis Dolan, Cyril Og Smith and John Christy and for the runners up Luke Kilkenny, Declan Malady  Johnny McGovern, Paul Gill, Ciaran Fanning, Gerry Kilkenny, Jim Holahan, Mick Crosby and Connor Scollan. Thanks to Freddie for refreshments and sponsorship of the raffle, and to Arlene and bar staff who looked after it. Thanks to Gene Connelly and Mark Kinsella for marking the final.
