19 December 2019

Wishes to thank, most sincerely, all those in the Aughawillan, Aughnasheelin, Ballinamore, Corraleehan and Drumreilly areas, for their very generous support of our recent Church Gate Collection. You can be assured that the total sum of €784.46 will be used to further improve facilities throughout the catchment area. Our recent newsletter outlined what we actually do and if you have an idea of something that is required in your area, please do not hesitate to contact me, Máirín Martin, Chairperson 086 1547788. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

15th Annual Christmas Quiz for Palestine

Thanks in advance to all who make this popular fundraiser such a success and help Palestinians not only living under occupation but also those who are displaced. Equivalent to the population of Ireland there are 6 Million Palestinians registered as refugees according to the UN. So please join us to support them in Mc Girl's Pub, Ballinamore on the 27th of December, 9.30 pm seems to be the most consensual time to start but why not come earlier for a sneak peak at the questions from last year. Again the appeal goes out to please come armed with arms full of prizes for the raffle, because if you're not in (with prizes) you can't win them back.

GENTLE REMINDER: As we approach the end of the year, it would be much appreciated if Dues and Offertory and other contributions were brought up to date. The weekly offertory contributions go towards the upkeep of the Churches and the monthly dues contributions provide the salaries for the priests of the parish. Thanking you for your generosity. If you are paying by cheque would you be kind enough to use a separate cheque for Offertory and Dues contributions as they have different account numbers. Please make cheques for Offertory payable to Ballinamore / Aughnasheelin / Corraleehan or Aughawillan Church a/c. Please make Dues cheques payable to Priests Revenue a/c. Thank you.

Welcome to the Asylum Seekers: A warm welcome to the Asylum Seekers who have recently arrived into our community and are located in Apartments at the Rock Quarter. This is an opportunity for all of us to work together to ensure that these people are welcomed not by words only but also in practical assistance. Welcoming the stranger and assisting those in need is at the heart of our Christian faith. It is well to remember that the Holy Family were refugees and had to leave their homeland for a period of time because of death threats and bigotry. Christmas is a great family feast where we celebrate God becoming human in the form of a baby born in a stable in Bethlehem, born in a stable  because there was no room in the Inn. This Christmas let us make room in our hearts not only for Jesus but also for all human kind especially The Asylum Seekers in our midst and all who are homeless.

Aughnasheelin Youth Singing Group: Will be singing Christmas Carols after 7pm mass on Sat 21st December outside Aughnasheelin Church. Any donations are greatly appreciated. All proceeds raised will go to Ballinamore Community Hospital Patient Comfort Fund.

Thank you: Grateful appreciation to the people of the parish of Ballinamore and Aughnasheelin for the great number of religious items donated for the homes of villagers in Uganda. Some of these have already been sent. Thank you from Father Matthias Jjooga.

To our sponsors thank you so much, the local fire brigade, those who helped spread the word on the paper and FB and of course the big man himself thanks Santa.
